A Bird's Eye View

Confusion, competition, clutter - never has the need to find new ways to stand out from the crowd, to be visible, been more important. Images and video play their part, undoubtedly, but even here it is becoming more and more difficult to find uniqueness and to generate impact.

But, there’s a new kid on the block that is one of the more exciting developments in recent years; drones – high flying cameras – that enable you to capture new, dynamic viewpoints. The legal restriction that does not allow them to fly above 400 meters is in many ways their USP, because they operate at heights where more conventional aerial photographic carriers – helicopters and planes – can’t.

The output can be truly amazing – spectacular images that are a mesmerizing mix of color and texture are seldom seen in traditional photography. It is easy to see how, in the saturated world of digital imagery, this new angle can bring an artistic edge to photography, capturing unique and breathtaking perspectives.

As the photographs here attest, the quality is impressive, both for stills and video. The professional-standard camera is fixed to a “gimbal” which counteracts the drone’s movement and provides the stability of a ground-level tripod. And the real time video feed to the controller’s mobile device allows the photographer to see exactly what the drone sees, so setting up shots is not difficult.

In our city of choice, Bangkok, with its jumbled, busy, high-rise profile, it is easy to see the potential for drone photography, particularly in sectors like property and tourism, and we are already investigating the options for several forward-thinking clients.

Furthermore, drone pictures or videos could be a great asset to your website. High quality and original are a key factor to attract prospects, especially if you have a good Search Engine Optimization.
