The two costs of Google Ads: media spend and management
Every Google Ads budget has two separate parts, and mixing them up is the most common source of confusion.
Media spend is paid directly to Google. It buys the clicks. The business sets a daily or monthly cap, and over a month Google does not charge more than that cap.
Management is the work that makes the spend productive: keyword research, ad copywriting, conversion tracking, daily optimisation and reporting. It is done in-house or by an agency, and it is always billed separately from media spend.
Agencies in Thailand usually price management in one of three ways: a fixed monthly fee, a percentage of media spend, or a fixed fee with a one-off setup charge. Most also ask for a minimum commitment of around three months, which matches the time Google’s bidding needs to learn.
What to plan for: on small budgets, management can cost as much as the media spend itself. Compare offers on what is included and on the cost per lead they forecast, not on the fee alone. Google Ads also works best as part of a wider digital marketing plan, where search, social media and the website support each other.
What drives Google Ads costs in Thailand
The price of a click is set in a live auction every time someone searches, so two businesses in the same city can pay very different amounts for the same keyword. Five factors matter most.
Competition. The more advertisers bid on a keyword, the higher the price. Legal, finance, property and aesthetic clinic keywords are among the most contested in Bangkok.
Ad quality. Google ranks ads on bid and quality together. A relevant ad that people click, sending them to a landing page that matches the search, can rank above a competitor who bids more and pay less per click.
Language. English and Thai searches are separate markets with separate prices. The same service often costs less per click in Thai, with more volume but also more irrelevant searches to filter out.
Location. Targeting all of Thailand, Bangkok only, or a few kilometres around a branch changes both volume and cost. Tighter targeting usually means fewer but better clicks.
Season and timing. Demand moves with the calendar. Tourism and hospitality searches rise in the high season, and many B2B searches drop during long holidays such as Songkran and New Year. Running ads only during opening hours also avoids paying for calls nobody answers.
Cost per click in Thailand by industry
Clicks in Thailand cost far less than in Western markets. An analysis of Google Keyword Planner estimates across 97 countries found Thailand’s average cost per click to be 58% below the US average (WordStream, updated September 2025). In our own 2026 keyword research, English service keywords mostly cost 15 to 70 THB per click, and Thai informational keywords often cost under 10 THB.
Within Thailand, the price depends mainly on what one new customer is worth to the advertiser. The table shows where common industries usually sit.
Industry | Example Thai keywords | Typical competition | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
Insurance and finance | ประกันรถยนต์ (car insurance), สินเชื่อส่วนบุคคล (personal loan) | Very high | One customer is worth years of premiums or interest |
B2B services | รับทำบัญชี (bookkeeping), จดทะเบียนบริษัท (company registration) | High | High contract value, few searches |
Legal services | ทนายความ (lawyer), ปรึกษาทนาย (legal advice) | High | High fees per case |
Aesthetic and dental clinics | ฉีดโบท็อก (Botox), รากฟันเทียม ราคา (implant price) | High | Many clinics bidding in Bangkok |
Real estate | คอนโดใกล้รถไฟฟ้า (condo near BTS), บ้านเดี่ยว กรุงเทพ (house Bangkok) | Medium to high | Large deals, long decisions |
Home services and construction | ล้างแอร์ (air-con cleaning), กำจัดปลวก (termite control) | Medium | Local demand; some urgent services cost much more |
Hospitals and medical | ตรวจสุขภาพ ราคา (health check price), มีบุตรยาก (fertility) | Medium | Strong brands already rank organically |
Education | โรงเรียนนานาชาติ (international school), เรียนภาษาอังกฤษ (English course) | Medium | High value for schools, lower for short courses |
Travel and hotels | โรงแรม พัทยา (Pattaya hotel), ทัวร์ญี่ปุ่น (Japan tour) | Low to medium | High volume, many browsers |
Retail and e-commerce | ที่นอน (mattress), ครีมกันแดด (sunscreen) | Low per click | Small orders, broad searches |
A low cost per click does not mean a cheap customer. Broad shopping and travel searches attract many browsers, so more clicks are needed for each sale. Judge every industry on cost per lead or cost per customer, not cost per click.
Two lessons from this data:
Keyword Planner estimates run high. In the live campaigns behind this guide, actual clicks often cost a fraction of Google’s forecast once the ads and quality scores matured. Use the planner to size the market, not to fix the budget.
Watch out for expensive mismatches. “pt near me” shows a top-of-page bid of 817 THB because it attracts personal trainer searches, not physiotherapy patients. One wrong keyword can drain a small budget in days.
Thai or English keywords: how language changes the cost
Choose the language of your customer, not of your website. The choice changes the cost per click, the volume and the amount of filtering needed.
English keywords | Thai keywords | |
|---|---|---|
Typical cost per click | Higher (often 15 to 70 THB) | Lower (often under 10 THB for informational terms) |
Search volume | Smaller | Larger |
Search intent | Often commercial, close to buying | Mixed: jobs, courses, definitions, self-help |
Best for | Expat, international and B2B services | Thai consumers, local services, high volume |
Main risk | Hitting a volume ceiling quickly | Paying for irrelevant clicks without negative keywords |
Many businesses run both, in separate ad groups with their own ads and landing pages. A Thai ad that sends people to an English page loses most of its value.
How much should you budget? Three realistic tiers
The right budget depends on how many services you advertise and how many locations you cover. These three tiers reflect what we see in the Bangkok market in 2026.
Tier | Monthly media spend (THB) | Best for | Typical leads per month |
|---|---|---|---|
Starter | 10,000 to 15,000 | One core service, one city, testing the channel | 14 to 25 |
Growth | 25,000 to 40,000 | Several services or several cities, steady lead flow | 23 to 65 |
Multi-location | 50,000 and above | Clinics, retail or service brands with 2 or more branches | 50 to 100 |
Lead ranges come from 2026 campaign results and forecasts in professional services and healthcare in Bangkok, from a conservative to an expected scenario. Actual results depend heavily on how well the website turns visitors into enquiries.
Our advice: start in the Starter or Growth tier, collect two months of real data, then scale what works.
Which campaign type fits your budget
On a budget under 40,000 THB per month, one well-built Search campaign usually beats several small campaigns of different types. Each type has a clear role:
Campaign type | Where ads appear | Best for | Budget advice |
|---|---|---|---|
Search | Google results, as text ads | Capturing people already looking for your service | Start here. Most of the budget at launch |
Local (from Google Business Profile) | Google Maps and local results | Clinics, restaurants, shops, branches | Add when Maps appears above the website results for your keywords |
Performance Max | Search, Maps, YouTube, Display, Gmail | Businesses with strong conversion data | Wait until you have at least 30 leads per month to learn from |
Remarketing | Sites and apps your past visitors use | Long decisions: property, education, B2B | A small share once traffic is steady |
The reason is data. Google’s automated bidding learns from conversions, and it learns faster when they are concentrated in one campaign rather than spread thinly across four.
Example: what 15,000 THB per month can achieve
With a flat media budget of about 15,000 THB per month, a Bangkok professional services business received more than 90 tracked leads in three months, at an average of under 500 THB per lead. Figures below are rounded.
Metric | Month 1 | Month 2 | Month 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
Media spend (THB) | about 15,000 | about 15,000 | about 15,000 |
Clicks | about 1,200 | about 1,600 | about 2,500 |
Click-through rate | 4.9% | 5.9% | 6.5% |
Average cost per click (THB) | about 13 | about 9 | about 6 |
Leads | about 30 | about 34 | about 30 |
What drove the result:
Spend stayed flat while clicks doubled. Better ad copy lifted the click-through rate every month, which lowered the cost per click.
One keyword did most of the work. The single best search term took more than half of tracked spend and converted at almost 9%.
A small budget can still scale. A second campaign ran on only 150 THB per day and still grew its impressions about 4 times in three months.
The lesson: a modest budget works when it is concentrated on the few searches that bring paying clients.
How to calculate your own Google Ads budget
Start from the number of leads you want, not from a round figure. Three inputs are enough:
Monthly media budget = (Leads wanted × Cost per click) ÷ Conversion rate
Worked example: a clinic wants 30 enquiries per month. Its keywords cost about 35 THB per click, and its website converts 7% of visitors into enquiries.
30 × 35 ÷ 0.07 = 15,000 THB per month in media spend.
Where to find each input:
Leads wanted: your sales target divided by your close rate. If 1 in 3 enquiries becomes a client and you want 10 new clients, you need 30 leads.
Cost per click: Google Keyword Planner gives a range. Use the middle of it, and expect real costs to differ once campaigns run.
Conversion rate: 5% to 9% is a reasonable planning range for a service website with a clear contact form, phone number and LINE button.
Why a bigger budget is not always better
Every market in Thailand has a ceiling: once you cover all the relevant searches, extra budget buys weaker clicks at a higher cost per lead.
Two examples from Thai keyword data:
Legal services in English: Keyword Planner shows about 7,000 relevant searches per month across Thailand. Around 40,000 THB of media spend already covers most of that demand. Going further means adding Thai keywords or remarketing.
Physiotherapy in Bangkok: specific English searches are small, often 0 to 50 per month per term. For a multi-branch clinic, spend above about 55,000 THB per month would mostly go to broader, lower-intent searches.
The opposite also happens. Keyword Planner shows searches for “beadcrete pool” in Thailand growing from about 10 to almost 400 per month in one year, with little competition. Niche, fast-growing searches like this are where a small budget goes furthest, which is why keyword research comes before any budget decision. The same research also feeds SEO, so the terms that convert in ads can be targeted organically over time.
What to expect in the first 90 days
Judge Google Ads after three months, not three weeks. The first weeks are for learning and cleaning; the real cost per lead appears in month two and settles in month three.
Week 0: setup. Keyword research, conversion tracking tested before launch, negative keyword lists, ads in each language and the right landing page for each ad group.
Weeks 1 to 2: cleaning. The search terms report is checked every two to three days. Irrelevant searches are blocked, and searches that convert become keywords.
Weeks 3 to 4: first cuts. Keywords that spend without bringing enquiries are paused. Budget moves toward the ads and terms that work.
Month 2: optimisation. With 30 or more conversions in a month, automated bidding can target a cost per lead. The forecast is revised with real data.
Month 3: decision. The real cost per lead is known. Scale what works, improve the website if visitors do not convert, or adjust the targeting.
A good monthly report shows spend, leads, cost per lead and what changed, not only impressions and clicks.
Five mistakes that waste Google Ads budget in Thailand
Most wasted spend comes from setup, not from the budget itself.
Counting button taps as leads. A tap on a phone or LINE button is not an enquiry. Count only real calls (60 seconds or more), submitted forms and started conversations, or Google will optimise for the wrong thing.
No negative keywords. Thai searches mix jobs, courses, definitions and other provinces. Words like สมัครงาน (apply for a job), คือ (what is) and ฟรี (free) should be blocked from day one.
Leaving automation switched on by default. Broad match, automatically created assets and URL expansion can send ads to irrelevant searches on small budgets. Turn them on only once the account has data.
Changing everything at once. Changing bids, budget and ads in the same week resets Google’s learning period and makes results impossible to read.
Sending clicks to the homepage. Each ad group should land on the page that matches the search, with a visible phone number and a short contact form.
FAQ: Google Ads cost in Thailand
What is the minimum budget for Google Ads in Thailand?
Google has no minimum. For a business, 10,000 to 15,000 THB per month in media spend is a practical floor to collect enough data in two months.
How much does a click cost on Google in Thailand?
Most English service keywords cost 15 to 70 THB per click. Thai informational keywords often cost under 10 THB.
How much does a lead cost from Google Ads in Thailand?
In the 2026 Bangkok campaigns behind this guide, leads cost between about 450 and 1,100 THB, depending on the service and the website’s conversion rate.
How do Google Ads agencies charge in Thailand?
Most charge a fixed monthly fee, a percentage of media spend, or a fixed fee plus a setup charge. The fee is always separate from the budget paid to Google, and a three-month minimum is common.
How long before Google Ads brings results?
Clicks start within days of launch. Reliable cost-per-lead figures need about 60 days of data.
Should I advertise in Thai or English?
It depends on the customer. Expat and B2B services usually start in English. Thai keywords add volume, often at a lower cost per click, but need a careful negative keyword list.
Is Google Ads better than Facebook ads in Thailand?
They do different jobs. Google Ads reaches people already searching for a service, so leads tend to be closer to buying. Facebook, Instagram and LINE build awareness and reach people before they search. Many businesses start with Google Ads for leads and add social media for brand building.
Can I stop Google Ads at any time?
Yes, campaigns can be paused at any time in the account. Agency contracts are separate and may have a minimum term.
